Varieties of massage range from gentle stroking and kneading of muscles and other soft tissues to deeper manual techniques. Massage has been practiced as a healing therapy for centuries in nearly every culture around the world. It helps relieve muscle tension, reduce stress, relieve chronic pain and evoke feelings of calmness. Although massage affects the body as a whole, it particularly influences the activity of the musculoskeletal, circulatory, lymphatic, and nervous systems.

State Of The Art Colon Hydrotherapy Unit "Colenz"
- The only one in NJ.
- More comfortable than other Colon Hydrotherapy units.

- The system uses gravity flow. So there is very low water pressure compared to other colonic units.
- "Male" friendly!
- It has a semi-soft nozzle that is more comfortable compared to the hard speculum of other colon hydrotherapy units.
- Our nozzle is ¼ inch in diameter (approximately the size of a straw) compared to the 1 inch diameter speculum of other colonic units.
- The nozzle is self inserted as oppose to the colon hydrotherapist inserting the speculum.
- The client has the option of complete privacy during their cleanse or having the therapist in the room with them during the session.
- The deep aqua color with light aqua accents helps to promote healing within the colon (color therapy).
- The client has the option of viewing the debris at the end of the session as opposed to only viewing it through a view tube as it passes by with other colonic units. What is Colon Hydrotherapy
Colon Hydrotherapy is the gentle infusion of filtered, warm and temperature controlled water into the five feet of colon through the rectum. This process is one of the safest ways of cleansing the colon by the elimination of toxic wastes from the body. This technique is performed by an experienced, Certified Colon Therapist using sterile and disposable rectal tubes in a relaxing and a private atmosphere.
Colon Hydrotherapy also exercises the colon muscles, stimulating reflex points and returning the colon muscles to their original shape. This eliminates far more toxic waste than enemas or laxatives. This procedure is done in a holistic healing environment as oppose to the clinical and medical environment of most colon hydrotherapy sessions.

- What should I expect during my first massage therapy visit?
Your massage therapist will require you to fill out a health history form. Afterwards the therapist will begin by asking you general questions to establish what areas you would like worked on, if there are any conditions needing to be addressed and to determine if massage is appropriate for you. Your massage therapist may perform certain assessments and testing to evaluate your condition, and to see if you have any presenting complaints.
- Where will my massage session take place?
Your massage or bodywork session will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room. Soft music may be played to help you relax. You will lie on a table especially designed for your comfort.
- What do I wear during the massage?
Depending on the primary technique your therapist uses, you may or may not need to undress. For a full body massage, most people undress completely. However, you may choose to wear underwear. Your massage therapist will give you privacy to undress, and you will be covered with a sheet and blanket at all times except the area being worked on.
- What do I do during a massage therapy treatment?
Make yourself comfortable. If your therapist wants you to adjust your position, she or he will either move you or will ask you to move what is needed. Otherwise, change your position anytime to make yourself more comfortable. Many people close their eyes and relax completely during a session; others prefer to talk. It's up to you. It is your massage, and whatever feels natural to you is the best way to relax. Do not hesitate to ask questions at any time.
- How will a massage feel?
It usually depends on the techniques used. Many massage therapists use a form of Swedish massage, which is often a baseline for practitioners. In a general Swedish massage, your session may start with broad, flowing strokes (effleurage) that will help calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to relax specific areas and relieve areas of muscular tension. Often, a light oil or lotion is used to allow your muscles to be massaged without causing excessive friction to the skin. Do not hesitate to ask questions or mention if you feel any discomfort so that the massage therapist can use another approach or technique.
- Will the massage oils used make me break-out?
Most massage therapists use hypoallergenic massage oils or lotions. However, if you have sensitivity to certain types of oils or lotion please bring it to the massage therapist's attention as most practitioners have an assortment of oils and lotions on hand.
- Is a massage always appropriate?
No, there are several medical conditions that would make massage inappropriate. That's why it is necessary that you fill out the health history forms and before you begin your session. The massage therapist will ask general health questions to rule out if you have any contraindications to massage. It is very important that you inform the practitioner of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage prior to any session. Your massage therapist may require a recommendation or approval from your doctor.
- How long will a massage treatment last?
The average full-body massage treatment lasts approximately one hour. A half-hour appointment only allows time for a partial massage session, such as neck and shoulders, back or legs and feet. Many people prefer a 60- to 90-minute session for optimal relaxation. Always allow relaxation time prior to and after the session.
- How will I feel after the massage therapy treatment?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during a massage, it is recommended you drink plenty of water following your massage. Massage therapists sometimes recommend a hot Epsom salt bath that encourages the release of toxins that may have been stirred up from the massage treatment.
- Is the massage therapist at your holistic center certified?
Yes, our massage therapist attended The Somerset School of Massage Therapy where she completed 600 hours in training. Our massage therapist is nationally certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) and is also a member of the New Jersey Chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) .

FAQ Colon Hydrotherapy
- Is colon hydrotherapy completely safe?
Yes. In fact with new colon therapy equipment, treatments are much safer than the common enema. The Colon therapy equipment that we use is FDA approved, cleansed and sanitized after each client, and one time sterile disposable tubes are used.
- How does a colon hydrotherapy treatment compare to an enema?
An enema only reaches the rectum and lower part of the colon, whereas with colon hydrotherapy, the entire length of the colon (the large intestinal tract approximately 5 to 5½ feet in length) is reached. Colon hydrotherapy is many more times effective. According to learned centenarian Dr. Norman Walker, "One colon irrigation is equivalent to 30 enemas."
- Do treatments hurt?
No. In fact many people report their colon hydrotherapy sessions as being both refreshing and relaxing.
- How much of the intestines are actually cleansed during a colon hydrotherapy treatment?
During a treatment it is possible for a professional colon therapist to cleanse the full length of the colon (large intestine). The small intestine are not specifically involved in a colon hydrotherapy treatment. The small intestine may be cleansed with the help of an oral (herb-based) intestinal cleanser.
- Should I see my doctor before my first colon hydrotherapy session?
If you have a concern about your health or the appropriateness of colon hydrotherapy you should consult a doctor. If you are diagnosed with diverticulitis, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, severe hemorrhoids, rectal or intestinal tumors, you would not be a candidate for colon hydrotherapy treatments. Professionally administered colon hydrotherapy is safe, and generally if you are free of the above sited conditions, a medical examination prior to therapy, should not be necessary.
- Is there any possibility of bacterial or viral contamination from prior use of the colon hydrotherapy machine?
Our colon hydrotherapy machines utilize pre-sterilized, disposable tubes. These disposables are used only once during a single therapy session. Properly administered, there is absolutely no danger of contamination.
- How long does a treatment take?
Actual treatment time is about 40 minutes, but you should plan a total session visit of one hour in duration. If you are late to your appointment, your session time will be reduced by the amount of time you are late. So please arrive 10 - 15 minutes prior to your appointment time.
- Does having a menstrual period at the time of a colon hydrotherapy session have any effect on the treatment?
No, in fact it's usually a good time to receive a treatment, since your body is already cleansing. Your flow will not interfere with the success of the treatment.
- What should I do to prepare for a colon hydrotherapy cleansing?
Refrain from eating two hours before the cleansing, be as relaxed as possible and maintain a positive, cheerful attitude.
- Will I experience any intestinal discomfort or fatigue after the cleansing?
Usually not, but since the cleansing will stir up a lot of old debris and toxins, you might experience some minor nausea or fatigue. If any discomfort occurs, it is recommended to rest and apply a warm heating pad to the abdomen. If you wish, a mild vegetable broth or peppermint tea is usually soothing at this time. Any discomfort will usually pass within 24 hours.
- Do I need to take acidophilus after a colon cleansing because intestinal flora has been washed out of the colon?
It is recommended to use acidophilus, but not because the treatment washes out intestinal flora. Colon hydrotherapy cleansings do not wash out intestinal flora. Taking acidophilus subsequent to a colon cleansing is beneficial, because it helps to improve the bacterial balance in the colon. The best method is to implant the flora rectally the evening after your final therapy session, or if you prefer, to drink acidophilus for 2 weeks after the final therapy session.
- Can I work directly after having a colon hydrotherapy?
Certainly. You can work just as you would after a regular bowel movement.
- Is the Colon Hydrotherapist at your center certified?
Yes, our colon hydrotherapist is a member of the International Association for Colon Hydrotherapy and is certified at the Intermediate Level.
